2005 News
NOVEMBER
I
played Catie in an Actors'
Center sponsored staged reading of John
Strawbridge's new original screenplay, Washington's
Ax. The reading took place on Thursday, November 10th at the Round
House Theatre in Silver Spring. After the reading, the author
welcomed feed-back from the audience, as he is preparing this script
for possible production next year.
Hatch, our
2005 DC 48 Hour
Film Project top 15 film and winner of Best Location, was screened at the Annapolis
Film Festival on Saturday, November 12th.
DC and Baltimore 48 Hour Film Project 2005 films were entered into
the festival by the 48HFP, and 15 films were selected to be part of
this "Battle of the Beltways" screening.
OCTOBER
I
played The Bride and Minnie in The
Bride Was In Stitches (Or How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love
the Brute), a theatrical re-staging of Bride
of Frankenstein in radio broadcast format, on Monday,
October 31st. The event was a fundraiser for the Actors'
Center, and held at the Rosslyn
Spectrum in Rosslyn, VA. This
original show, written by sound designer and movie freak Clay Teunis,
was a live, audience participation show featuring professional and
amateur actors reading from a script while accompanied by music from
the movie and sound effects.
SEPTEMBER
FELT:
Tearing the Fabric of America was selected to be part of the second annual DC
Shorts Film Festival. FELT was one of 56 films picked
from 320 submissions. The festival ran September 16-18th at the Landmark E Street Cinema in downtown DC.
I
reassumed the role of Detective Hyde in a second staged reading of the
mystery play Take Stock by Jonah Sea Knight for the Kennedy
Center's Fourth Annual Page to Stage New Play Festival on Sunday,
September 4th.
During this three-day event, the Kennedy Center welcomes more than 25
theaters from the D.C. metropolitan area with the goal of producing
and supporting the success of new plays and musicals. Featuring free
readings, special events, and panel discussions, the festival lets you
catch a glimpse of upcoming Washington premieres in the 2005–2006 theater
season.
JULY
I
played Karla Faye Tucker in the 40 minute one act drama Occam's
Razor by Paul Buchanan for Cedar
Lane Stage's 2005 Summer Sampler. The play was directed by
Barbara Scheide, and co-starred Kevin Finkelstein as the fictional
reporter Jack Kirby.
Karla was the first woman executed in Texas since the 1800s for her
part in two extremely brutal murders committed (with a pick axe) in
1983. She found God in prison, and her execution was challenged by
some of the religious right and various politicians. A very thorough
background of the murders and Karla can be found here: http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/women/tucker/. The show was performed two weekends, July 16, 17, 23, and 24. We are
hoping to remount the show in a TBD DC-area venue in the Fall.
MAY
HypoFixx's
music video compilation DVD, Videos From The Machine, was released
on May 3rd. This DVD contains five videos from his most recent album
as well as live performances, interviews, and a behind the scenes featurette.
I was featured in four of the five videos on the DVD. Visit the band
website to pick up a copy!
APRIL/MAY
Cavegirl Productions again teamed
up with Defektiv
Films to produce a third short film, this time for the 2005
DC 48 Hour Film Project, April 29th - May 1st. Our horror film, HATCH, can be viewed at ProjectHatch.Com,
along with tons of behind the scenes information and photos. HATCH made the top 14 out of 70 entries, and was part of The Best of the DC
48HFP screening May 19th at the AFI
Silver Theater in Silver Spring, MD. HATCH also
won Best Location!
APRIL
On
April 16th and 17th I played multiple roles in a series of one-acts
called Six
About Sex, written by Alex Fraser, at the off-Broadway
venue Theatre
Studio, Inc. The theatre is located at 750 Eighth Ave, New York,
NY.
MARCH
I
played the roles of Linda Shaw and Ellen Fenwick in a staged reading
of the play Stage Door for the Actors'
Center on March 14th. The performance, directed by Catherine
Aselford, was at the Rosslyn
Spectrum in Rosslyn, VA.
FEBRUARY
On
February 25 and 26th I was set to play two civil engineering witnesses
as part of the DC law firm Kirkland
and Ellis' bi-annual Kirkland Institute for Trial Advocacy (KITA)
Spring session. Associates try a mock lawsuit from voir dire to closing
arguments in front of a live jury of non-lawyers. Senior litigation
partners serve as judges, providing guidance and critiques.
My
fourth music video for the band HypoFixx premiered online on February 21st. I played a cocaine overdose victim.
The video, Complete System Failure, can
be viewed here, and all of the videos I have done for the band
will be coming out Spring 2006 on a special edition DVD.
